Outdoor Meeting

Date & time to meet: Monday, 22nd August at 7pm.
Outing to: Sandymount Strand, Dublin.
Extra information: Meet in Sandymount Strand, car park 3 on Strand Road. For a map showing the meeting place click HERE, the car park is at Flag 1 on the map. For an account of our previous outing there in August 2017 click HERE. We are hoping to observe the arrival of the annual late summer tern roost at Sandymount Strand. Wellington boots or similar are advised.

September 2022

Indoor Meeting

Date & time: Tuesday, 6th September at 8pm.
Location: The Killiney Room, Graduate Bar, Rochestown Avenue.
Title: Birding in the Fast Lane.
Speaker: Brian McCloskey.
Details: Brian is a young birder from Monaghan. This year he is undertaking a year-list, i.e. attempting to see as many different species in a calendar year as possible. He will tell us about his progress to date and the journeys he is making country-wide to add species to his list.

Outing to: Kilcoole, Wicklow.

Indoor Meeting

Date & time: Tuesday, 4th October at 8pm.
Location: The Killiney Room, Graduate Bar, Rochestown Avenue.
Title: Wildlife from North to South: tips for local and travel photography.
Speaker: Mark Carmody.
Details: Mark is highly-regarded and award-winning wildlife photographer. His talk will be about photographing wildlife when traveling, either locally or abroad, providing practical advice to those planning trips. Mark will focus on how to get the best out of a trip, whether that is a dedicated or non-dedicated trip. He has traveled extensively and will show us photographs he took in the Arctic, Europe, Middle East, Japan, South America and Antarctica.

Outing to: Turvey Parklands and Rogerstown Estuary.
Extra information: Meet in Turvey Parklands car park off Turvey Avenue. For a map showing the meeting place click HERE, the car park is at Flag 2 on the map. Our previous visit to Turvey & Rogerstown in February 2020 was a complete washout, thanks to the dreadful weather that battered the country at the time and only two brave souls managed to make it along.
