Indoor Meeting

Date & time: Tuesday, 4th October at 8pm.
Location: The Killiney Room, Graduate Bar, Rochestown Avenue.
Title: Wildlife from North to South: tips for local and travel photography.
Speaker: Mark Carmody.
Details: Mark is highly-regarded and award-winning wildlife photographer. His talk will be about photographing wildlife when traveling, either locally or abroad, providing practical advice to those planning trips. Mark will focus on how to get the best out of a trip, whether that is a dedicated or non-dedicated trip. He has traveled extensively and will show us photographs he took in the Arctic, Europe, Middle East, Japan, South America and Antarctica.

Date & time to meet: Sunday, 9th October at 10:30am.
Outing to: Turvey Parklands and Rogerstown Estuary.
Extra information: Meet in Turvey Parklands car park off Turvey Avenue. For a map showing the meeting place click HERE, the car park is at Flag 1 on the map. Our previous visit to Turvey & Rogerstown in February 2020 was a complete washout, thanks to the dreadful weather that battered the country at the time and only two brave souls managed to make it along. Indoor Meeting

Date & time: Tuesday, 1st November at 8pm.
Location: The Killiney Room, Graduate Bar, Rochestown Avenue.
Title: Biodiversity and Human Well-Being.
Speaker: Tom Bolger.
Details: Tom is a Professor of Zoology at UCD. He regards the loss of biodiversity as one of the major threats to humanity. Tom will discuss the term biodiversity, describing the many facets of variation that it currently embraces and the increased media interest in its loss and why this loss is the source of anxiety, in particular the importance of biodiversity in terms of human well being.

Indoor Meeting

Date & time: Tuesday, 6th December at 8pm.

Title: East to West: Terns of the Irish Sea.
Speaker: Branch Committeee member Emma Tiernan.
Details: From Roseate Terns on Rockabill Island to the Little Tern colonies on Kilcoole Beach and Portrane, Ireland’s east coast is of great importance to several tern species. Emma Tiernan tells us what it is like to live and work on Rockabill Island and at Kilcoole Beach protecting and monitoring breeding terns.

Outing to: Balbriggan.
