Dalkey Island Tern Watch
Dates & time: Between 6:30pm and 8pm on 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th July 2023, i.e. each Tuesday evening during July.
Outing to: Coliemore Harbour, Dalkey.
Extra information: Our annual Tern Watch evenings from the viewing area over Coliemore Harbour.

Outdoor Meeting
Date & time to meet: Sunday, 27th August at 7pm.
Outing to: Sandymount Strand, Dublin.
Extra information: Meet in Sandymount Strand, car park 3 on Strand Road. For a map showing the meeting place click HERE, the car park is at Flag 2 on the map. For an account of our previous outing there in August 2017 click HERE. We are hoping to observe the arrival of the annual late summer tern roost at Sandymount Strand. Wellington boots or similar are advised.

Indoor Meeting
Date & time: Tuesday, 5th September at 8pm.
Location: The Killiney Room, Graduate Bar, Rochestown Avenue.
Title: Habitat enhancement works for native wildlife in a former Sitka spruce plantation.
Speaker: Rob Gandola.
Details: Rob is a Senior Science Officer, he co-ordinates the science agenda for the Herpetological Society of Ireland. He is a Ph.D student at University College Dublin where his research primarily focuses on the conservation and ecology of Nile crocodiles in Madagascar. He also leads the herpetology team for Operation Wallacea at their field site. Rob also conducts other research on the ecology and conservation of other reptiles and amphibians in both Ireland and further afield.

Outing to: Broad Lough, Wicklow.
Extra information: We return to the Broad Lough for the first time since December 2012. The Broad Lough is a shallow tidal and brackish lagoon that is fed by the Vartry River and several other smaller streams. It is situated just north of Wicklow town and is separated from the Irish Sea by a long spit of land called the The Murrough, along which the Dublin to Wexford railway line runs.
